Lou has a strong corporate business background as Human Resource senior executive in US Fortune 100 companies and in a global executive search firm which empowers his expertise as an organizational development psychologist and consultant. Previous Experience Lou has held senior executive positions as Vice-President of Human Resources in Fortune 100 companies in the financial services and retail sectors in both the United States and Canada. In these capacities, he implemented executive and management assessment processes, recruitment and training programs, executive succession planning in the merger of major company divisions, and implemented enterprise-wide change and collaboration initiatives that increased management and employee productivity.

As a former faculty member of the Division of Executive Development at the Schulich School of Business, York University, he has developed and taught senior executive leadership development programs. Through his research as an organizational psychologist, he has emerged as one of North America’s top authorities on how to assess and leverage personality traits for more effective leadership and collaboration. The Schulich Emotional Intelligence in Your Workplace brochure states he is “One of North America’s leading management instructors and employee development specialists.”

Publications He is an internationally recognized thought leader on collaborative leadership based on his coauthored business book Collaborate to Compete: Driving Profitability in the Knowledge Economy (published and distributed internationally by John Wiley, 2004). In this book he analyzes the transformative impact of the Internet on organizations and leadership and the changing executive personality traits required for business leaders to collaborate successfully in the burgeoning global Knowledge Economy. He has given keynote presentations on leadership and collaboration to business audiences based on his book in major cities in the United States and Canada and a prime-time feature interview on his book on Report on Business TV. He recently coauthored, with Dr Robert Hogan, another internationally recognized expert in the field of personality assessment in business, Business Susceptibility to Consulting Fads: The Case of Emotional Intelligence in A Critique of Emotional Intelligence: What are the problems and how can they be fixed? (Erlbaum, 2006).

Education & Affiliations He is a full Registered Psychologist and holds a Certificate of Professional Qualification in Psychology from the Association of State and Provincial Psychology Boards of the United States and Canada. He is a full professional member of the American Psychological Association. He was awarded his Ph.D. in Psychology from the University of California, Berkeley. He is a professional member of the Canadian Association of Professional Speakers and the National Speakers Association in the US.
